Cutler and Gross introduces a new line of designer eyewear for Spring Summer 2021. Inspired by Postmodernist architecture, our first drop for the season pays homage to iconic structures and influential figures in the art and design world.
Launching with five new styles, the collection explores the dynamic playfulness of the 60s movement, incorporating vivid colour blends, varied shapes with innovative design techniques and traditional craftsmanship. Each frame reflects unique characteristics influenced by the Post-Modernist era.
Influenced by the postmodernist rectangle, the 1382 optical frame comes complete with stepped sides which reflect the key design elements of the Piramides by Soeters van Eldonk Architecten and the M2 Building by Kengo Kuma. The dimensional structure of the glasses are further accentuated by 3D televisioni milling and a thinner, lower rim helps to resemble the feeling you’re wearing a metal combination frame.

The new 1383 is a striking small round with stepped sides reminiscent of juxtaposed Post-Modern architecture. Available as an optical and sunglass, it’s the perfect unisex design and nods to brand co-founder Mr Cutler’s favourite colour combination, Miele with bottle green lenses.
A fusion of our heritage’s past and present, the 1384 is your modern alternative to the 0736. A refined round frame crafted with recessed milling, its double layers are further accentuated by its classic colourways and contrasting double gradient lenses. The 1384 is notably influenced by the renowned post-modernist painter, David Hockney and his iconic round glasses. Available as an optical and sunglass, it includes Style Director, Ms Wilkinson’s favourite colourways such as Granny Chic and Humble Potato.
A rectangular and hexagon hybrid, the 1385 Rexangle is a new modern shape for Cutler and Gross. Influenced by the postmodern architecture of the Piazza d’Italia in New Orleans, the frame captures the essence of bold, sculptural expressionism, with clean geometric lines. The design pays homage the aesthetic of Mr Cutler. Crafted with reversed milling to emphasise its very angular dimensions enables the frame to sit proudly on the face, whilst the multi-layered acetate offers a refined and luxurious finish.
The showpiece of the collection, the 1386 revives the retro 80’s acetate styles with amplified characteristics. A sculptured masterpiece uniting inspired themes from Modernity and Nature, celebrates seamless curvatures and alluring patterns of marbled stone. Crafted with 9mm acetate, the chunky, bold square frame is enhanced with televisioni milling to reflect the depth inspired by classical stone sculptures and architecture.
