Our Style Director’s Guide to Sunglasses

Choosing the right pair of sunglasses can feel quite daunting, it doesn’t have to be. Here, our Style Director sets out some key pieces of advice, garnered from over 30 years in the industry, when it comes to finding the perfect pair.

“Keep the classics in mind; think round, aviator and square sunglasses. These staple frames are well-loved for a reason, they work for a variety of face shapes and have played their part in decades of iconic outfits. Don’t discount these styles because of their popularity. Modern updates of timeless styles put an individual twist on your look, keep an out for Limited Edition colourways, or our Colour Studio frames.”

“Consider your skin tone, Cutler and Gross sunglasses come in a plethora of colours, to suit and complement all skin tones. By selecting the right colour, you can inject some individuality to your style. Generally speaking, cool skin tones look great in muted bases colours, such as the 1378 in Aviator Blue and GR02 in Multi Havana . Warm tones should look for frames in yellow-based hues such as Granny Chic and Butterscotch.”

“Take advice on what suits your face and features! You can receive excellent advice in our stores and with our Frame Finder or Virtual Try On online tools, if you can bring a friend or partner when you come into store, do so. The more opinions the better. For example, if you have a high nose bridge, consider a sunglass with a bridge closer to top of the frame such as the 9772. If your nose bridge is lower, consider the 9797 which has a bridge place more centrally in the frame.”
