After-Hours Session Vol. 6

Crazy P front-woman Danielle Moore soundtracked volume 6 of the After-Hours sessions. As the lead vocalist for one of the most respected electronica acts on the planet, Moore has headlined sell-out shows all over the globe. She’s renowned for fusing underground disco with electronic beats.

We asked Moore to share her thoughts and experiences around the After Party.

CG: How would you describe your musical style?

DM: I started out as a lover of music, dancing in my own space and loving the community music brought together. A unique non-judgemental world. I met loads of friends on the dancefloor and then started collecting records influenced by the music I’d heard in various clubs and at after parties.

CG: Our latest collection is inspired by the After Party – a space where ideas, music and conversations are exchanged. Has this been your experience?

DM: After parties are where I’ve met some of my very best friends. Where a casual conversation would inspire me to search for something else in life. It’s where I met my band mates and where I felt most positively transformed. No boundaries.

CG: Tell us about a particularly memorable After Party you’ve attended.

DM: Post Electrik Chair, when François Kevorkian came back to my friend’s house and played a set. He’s a true NYC Body and Soul legend.

CG: What’s the key to a great After Party?

DM: I think great afters are not easy to pigeonhole. One thing that really is imperative is MUSIC!

The Inspiration

The methodology and magic of after parties in the late 80s inspired our latest collection. During the twilight hours, the pace of the club was replaced with cataclysmic conversation. Lit by the afterglow of neon lights and soundtracked by a hand-picked playlist, this dialled-down space sparked fresh dialogue. Ideas emerged; new records were discovered.

This was the utopia of the After Party.
